Even patrollers at Mt. Baker ski area are saying this is the best opening day in many years.
Mt. Baker had their opening day yesterday on a 81″ snowpack with 9-14″ of new snow.
There are many ski resorts in the West that almost never see a 81″ snowpack and Baker is sitting on a 81″ snowpack on day one!

After viewing these photos and video, it’s very clear that Mt. Baker had an epic opening day and that their early season is off to one helluva good start.
Last year, Baker got more snow than any other ski resort in North America (and maybe the world) at 866″. Â
Last year was a La Nina year. This year is a La Nina year.
We should likely all head to Bellingham, WA for the season.
