A Sino-Japanese team once attempted to climb this sacred mountain. ย They were never heard from again.

This mountain is sacred. ย It is said in Tibet, that if it were to be climbed, the gods would anger and destroy the local villages including Yubeng. ย Not knowing this, I told a local that Iโ€™d like to climb that peak someday.

โ€œIf you climb this peak, the Gods will destroy our village.โ€ – Yubeng local

I told him that I was sorry and that Iโ€™d cancel my plans.

Tibetan prayer flags fly everywhere in this zone.

Meili is also know as Kawagarbo.
