With a base at over 8,000 feet, recent snowfall, and very low temps, Mt. Rose has kicked its artificial snowmaking operations into gear. If all goes to plan, the ski area will be open by the end of October.
Projected to open later this month, Mt. Rose would be open several weeks before other surrounding Lake Tahoe ski resorts like Heavenly, Squaw Valley, or Northstar. The next resort wouldn’t even open until mid-November.
So will you be getting in turns this October?
