New Arrival Gateway and Sunrise Gondola Combine to Create a Seamless and Welcoming Guest Experience at Canyons Village

Canyons Village Parking Structure and Welcome Plaza

The new Canyons Village Parking Structure, developed by Canyons Village master developer TCFC, adds to a multi-year transformation of how guests are welcomed to Park City Mountain, Utah. Following the successful parking and transportation transformation to Park City Mountain’s Mountain Village, the new Canyons Village Parking Structure and Welcome Plaza will consolidate and replace surface parking throughout the village. This new structure will be situated at the southeast corner of Lower Village Road and the Frostwood Drive/Canyons Resort Drive roundabout, enhancing accessibility and connectivity while creating a safe and vibrant arrival space to Park City Mountain’s Canyons Village. Combined with the new Sunrise Gondola (coming winter 2025-26), skiers and riders can expect an entirely new and improved experience when getting to the slopes.

The vision for welcoming guests to Canyons Village is a comprehensive solution that enhances the guest experience with easy access to skiing and riding. This new parking plaza creates a single, convenient, covered point of arrival with multiple entrances that make it easy for guests to get on the snow.

Enhanced Parking Experience & Traffic Flow

The project’s design consolidates existing surface parking into one location next to S.R. 224. It provides three access options: direct to parking on level 3, an internal drop-off area on level 2, and direct parking on level 2. This project will increase carpooling and reduce congestion, positively impacting regional traffic.

The structure’s convenient location near public transit and S.R. 224 has been thoughtfully selected to make it the starting point of choice for day guests, skiers, and riders. The design intends to reduce traffic in the heart of Canyons Village and make it easier for guests to get on the snow with convenient access to the Cabriolet.

Improved Accessibility & Connectivity

Key features include a new pedestrian plaza on the ground floor, providing ample space for gathering and easy access to transit options. Enclosed glass escalators transport people between levels, serving typical traffic flow patterns at different times of the day – downward to the transit plaza in the morning and upward to parking in the afternoon.

The new Canyons Village parking structure creates a safer and more seamless experience for guests as they park, boot up, and make the short stroll to the Cabriolet. Similarly, guests arriving by Park City’s public transit system will have improved drop-off locations, creating a better experience for guests disembarking transit and making their way to the Cabriolet.

Sustainable Design

The Canyons Village parking structure is intentionally designed with a commitment to sustainability in mind. The facade will be clad in beetle-kill lodgepole pine, supporting sustainability and reuse. The structure will also integrate electric vehicle charging stations to promote eco-friendly transportation.

The parking structure design replaces uncovered parking stalls with covered ones, nearly eliminating the use of snowmelt, salt, and heavy machinery to remove snow. Together, the roof and facade minimize the need for external lighting, resulting in a project that will be Dark Sky compliant and an overall better neighbor to residents and guests (both human and animal) of Canyons Village.

How to Navigate Canyons Village Parking: Remainder of Winter 2024/25

During construction, which is slated to begin on March 17, the arrival and parking experience at Canyons Village will undergo some adjustments. Additional signage and staff will help guests navigate these changes. All surface parking lots in Canyons Village remain free this winter. Upper Village garage parking structures and designated spaces along W. High Mountain Road are still paid.

  • Arrival: Guests can arrive at Canyons Village via public transportation, ride share, or private vehicle. During construction, a reduced number of parking spaces will be available. We recommend visiting Canyons Village by Park City’s robust public transportation network.
  • Drop-off & Pickup: The Drop-off and pickup Area will be marked by a pink flag. Guests should drive to the Cabriolet lot and follow staff directions.
  • Carpool: Vehicles with four or more people are eligible for convenient carpool parking in Lot 4 (Upper Lot). Follow Canyons Resort Drive towards Upper Village. Lot 4 will be marked with a light blue flag.
  • Day Parking: Parking attendants will assist during the morning parking experience. A reduced number of parking spaces in the Cabriolet lot will be available during construction. Once full, attendants will direct guests to additional lots connected via shuttle or walking routes.
  • ADA: Staff will direct guests to ADA parking in designated spaces within the Cabriolet lot.
  • Additional Options: Parking remains unchanged at Park City High School (on designated weekends/holidays) or Park-n-Ride locations like Richardson Flat or Ecker Hill.
