Aspen Snowmass, Colorado, invites the community and visitors to celebrate the grand opening of the new Cirque T-Bar on Friday, February 13, at Snowmass.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the base of the Cirque T-Bar. Aspen Snowmass leadership will make remarks before the first bar loads. The ceremony is open to the public, and guests are invited to celebrate the opening and ride the new T-Bar for the first time.
“Opening the Cirque T-Bar is the result of many months of work across our mountain operations teams, from summer construction to the extensive snowcat and patrol efforts required to prepare this terrain. It’s a meaningful investment in one of our most unique zones at Snowmass, and we’re excited to see guests back up here skiing and riding the Cirque,” Susan Cross, Vice President of Mountain Operations, Aspen Skiing Company, said.
Snowmass recorded 6” of fresh snow in the past 24 hours, refreshing terrain and setting up soft turns today. Aspen Snowmass has the most open terrain in Colorado.

Terrain access from the Cirque chair will include High Pass to High Alpine trails, as well as Rocky Mountain High. The Cirque Headwall and additional terrain will open as conditions allow. Guests are reminded that the Cirque serves expert terrain only and should expect variable conditions. The most up-to-date terrain status will be available on the Aspen Snowmass app.
The new Cirque T-Bar replaces the former platter lift, doubling rider capacity and reducing wait times while maintaining the character of the iconic terrain. The Cirque is the only T-Bar lift across Aspen Snowmass’ four mountains and is the resort’s highest elevation lift. This opening marks another major milestone in Aspen Snowmass’ continued investment in its mountains and guest experience, bringing increased capacity and improved access to some of Snowmass’ best high alpine terrain.
With the new Elk Camp Lift high-speed six-pack that opened earlier in the season, this is the first time in nearly two decades that Snowmass has added two new lifts in a single season. Both projects are part of the Snowmass Master Plan, developed in close partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the Town of Snowmass Village, with a long-term vision for improving access, guest flow, and terrain connectivity.
