The Colorado Rockies are home to a variety of backcountry huts that access some of the state’s most pristine terrain. The Seven Utes Yurt is Colorado Mountain School’s newest adventure basecamp, mountain lodge, and outdoor education center.

The yurt is located on Cameron Pass in Northern Colorado and was built to accommodate a variety of groups with 1,200 square feet of living space, a 16-person sleeping capacity, and offers a fully-equipped kitchen. This 40-foot yurt offers the perfect place to connect with each other in the outdoors and features:

  • 360 degree mountain views
  • fully stocked kitchen
  • roll away beds, 16-person sleeping capacity
  • solar power
  • portable toilets
  • wrap-around deck
  • outdoor seating and table-space
  • wood-burning stove

Cameron Pass is a quiet 2-3 hour drive from DIA/Denver Area and offers exceptional backcountry touring that is far less crowded than the standard touring zones of Colorado’s Front Range. The terrain accessed from the Yurt includes everything from low-angle storm skiing to steep couloirs and you’ll likely have the ski line to yourself. Groups can book the yurt as a partially-guided or fully-guided program. For partially-guided trips, a guide comes in only for the first day to help the group get oriented to the ski terrain and the yurt. For fully-guided trips, 1-3 guides will join the group depending on the number of people and group objectives.
