NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Lake Tahoe, CA/NV that is calling for 3-9″ of snow above 7,000′ today.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches, except 3 to 9 inches above 7000 feet and localized amounts of a foot along the Sierra crest. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph with ridge gusts to 100 mph at times. - NOAA, Reno NV, 12/22/19
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10am today until 10pm today.
This will be the perfect refresh for the ski resorts and backcountry of Lake Tahoe.

Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort has already seen 142″ of snowfall this season.

NOAA is currently saying that the Lake Tahoe region is sitting at 135% of average snowpack.

Winds gusting as high as 50 mph with ridge gusts to 100 mph at times. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area. * WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 10 PM PST this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult, especially considering the increased holiday travel expected today. Very strong winds could cause tree damage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during periods of high traffic volume.
