NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Wasatch mountains of Utah today including Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude.

NOAA is forecasting 6-12″ of new snow for the Wasatch.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS
  EXPECTED BETWEEN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND MIDDAY THURSDAY.
  GREATEST TOTALS ARE FORECAST NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 AND ON SOUTH

* AFFECTED AREA...WASATCH MOUNTAINS AND THE WESTERN UINTA
  MOUNTAINS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...6 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS

* TIMING...SNOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS THESE MOUNTAIN AREAS THIS
  AFTERNOON THEN CONTINUE...LOCALLY HEAVY AT TIMES... INTO
  THURSDAY MORNING BEFORE DIMINISHING.

* IMPACTS...ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL IMPACT PASSES BY LATE THIS
  AFTERNOON RESULTING IN LOCALLY HAZARDOUS TRAVEL INCLUDING THE
  EVENING COMMUTE OVER PARLEYS SUMMIT ON I-80. LOCALLY SLICK AND
  HAZARDOUS ROADS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO
  THANKSGIVING MORNING. THOSE PLANNING THANKSGIVING TRAVEL
  SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS AND ALLOW
  EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
