NOAA: 8-16″ of Snow Forecast for Utah Tonight-Tuesday

NOAA has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Wasatch Mountains of Utah including Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, Park City, & Deer Valley ski resorts.

* WHAT...Heavy snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations 
of 8 to 16 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

The warning is calling for 8-16″ of snow and winds as high as 55mph Sunday night through Tuesday afternoon.

Alta has already seen 345″ of snowfall this season and is sitting on a 103″ snowpack.

Western Uinta Mountains-Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs-
Central Mountains-Southern Mountains-
Including the cities of Woodruff, Randolph, Alta, Brighton,
Mirror Lake Highway, Scofield, Cove Fort, Koosharem, Fish Lake,
Loa, Panguitch, and Bryce Canyon

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING
TO 4 AM MST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total
  snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches. Winds gusting as high as
  55 mph.

* WHERE...Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, Western Uinta Mountains,
  Wasatch Mountains South of I-80, Wasatch Mountains I-80 North,
  Southern Mountains and Central Mountains.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 4 AM MST Tuesday, with the
  period of heaviest snowfall Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Hazardous travel
  conditions are expected to impact the Monday morning and
  evening commutes. Blowing snow will cause poor visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The cold wind chills as low as 25 below
  zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30
  minutes.
