NOAA: Heavy Snowfall Continues To Impact California | 8-24″ of Additional Snowfall Above 7,000ft Through Tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, Winter Storm Watch, and Winter Weather Advisory for California. They are in effect through Friday Morning. A strong atmospheric river event is forecasted to impact the area, which will result in heavy snowfall above 7,000ft.

The Winter Storm Warning is in effect for areas above 6,500ft, which is where the majority of the accumulating snowfall will occur. Snow is expected to fall at Lake Level by tonight, but accumulations are expected to be minimal.

Greater Lake Tahoe Area-

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY
ABOVE 6500 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 8
  to 16 inches, with local amounts up to 2 feet near the Sierra
  Crest, are expected above 7000 feet. Up to 8 inches is expected
  between 6500 and 7000 feet, with a few slushy inches of
  snowfall down to lake level.

* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area above 6500 feet.

* WHEN...Until 5 AM PDT Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions,
  especially over passes. Damage to trees and power lines is
  possible. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility
  at times.
