California is forecast to receive snow at elevations above 9,000-feet today and tomorrow.  This likely means snow for all the high mountain passes in California including Tioga Pass, Sonora Pass, and even the Mt. Rose Pass in Lake Tahoe, NV which could even lead to pass closures.  Heads up.

Lets get this El Nino winter started!

We’ve got multiple fires burning in the mountains of California and this storm will be a huge help in getting those blazes under control.

NOAA Reno:

Here is a graphic (above) of forecast rainfall accumulations through Thursday evening. Don’t break out the skis yet, this will be a warm system with some beneficial rainfall.

Heavier rainfall will develop with a passing cold front early Thursday morning and will persist through the early afternoon.

Rainfall accumulations are expected to be highest mainly through Lassen and Plumas Counties with decreasing amounts through Mono County and western Nevada.

Snow levels will be high (>9,000′) but still may result in some snowfall for high passes such as Tioga, Sonora, and a rain/snow mix possible at the Mt Rose Summit.” – NOAA Reno, NV
