NOAA: Winter Weather Advisory for Montana Monday – Tuesday | “Many Inches of Snow”

NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Montana for Monday and Tuesday.

Snow levels could be as low as 5,500′.

NOAA is calling for light snow near 7,000′ and “many inches of snow” above 8000′.

2-7″ of snow are forecast for Beartooth Pass.

“Widespread valley rain and mountain snow will develop by tonight in central Idaho and western Montana. Valley rain amounts of 0.30 to 0.50 inches will be common. Light snow is expected near 7000 feet, and many inches of snow will accumulate above 8000 feet by late Monday.” – NOAA Missoula, MT today

“Sun 3:15 am: A cool and wet weather system will bring SNOW to the high elevations Monday. A few inches of accumulation is expected above 9,000 feet. Backpackers, campers, and those planning to travel the Beartooth Highway should monitor the forecast and plan accordingly.” – NOAA Billings, MT today

 

“Another cool and rainy Monday is expected across much of North Central and Southwest MT. Snow is also expected in the mountains, generally above 5500 feet, with some minor snow accumulations. Those with outdoor activities planned for tonight or Monday, should be prepared for wet and cold conditions, with snow in the mountains. ” – NOAA Great Falls, MT today

* WHAT...Wet snow expected. Total wet snow accumulations of 2 to 7
  inches likely over the highest parts of the Beartooth Highway.

* WHERE...The Beartooth Highway in the Beartooth Mountains.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Monday to noon MDT Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slick and snowpacked road
  conditions over the Beartooth Highway, with reduced visibilities
  in snowfall.
