NOAA’s Official December Outlook for the USA

NOAA recently released their December weather outlook for the USA.

This outlook follows the general La Nina pattern with above average precipitation & below average temperatures in the north.  NOAA has declared that La Nina is here for the 2017/18 winter season in North America.

According to this December outlook, you’ll want to be spending December in:

  • Washington
  • Idaho
  • Montana
  • Wyoming

All but one of the top 10 deepest snowpacks in North America are in one of the states above or B.C.

NOAA’s PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK FOR DECEMBER:

  • NOAA’s December outlook is calling for above average precipitation in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Northern Utah.
  • Below average precipitation if forecast in Arizona, New Mexico, and southern Colorado.

NOAA’s TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK FOR DECEMBER:

  • NOAA’s Decmeber outlook is forecasting above average temperatures in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado.
  • Below average temperatures are forecast in Washington, northern Idaho, & Montana.
