North Conway has been voted the nation’s best ski town for 2025, topping USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the second straight year and the fifth time since 2016. The New Hampshire community edged out major destinations across the United States, including Vail, Colorado, and Stowe, Vermont. The 2025 rankings place North Conway at the top of a list that features resorts from California, Wyoming, Colorado, New York, Oregon, and Idaho.
This year’s top ten ski towns, according to USA TODAY 10Best, are:
- North Conway, New Hampshire
- Mammoth Lakes, California
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Truckee, California
- Breckenridge, Colorado
- Lake Placid, New York
- Aspen, Colorado
- Stowe, Vermont
- Bend, Oregon
- McCall, Idaho
Chris Proulx, executive director of the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, told USA TODAY the recognition reflects the collective work of the region’s ski areas, lodging partners, shops, restaurants, and local community.
“Being named the Best Ski Town in the U.S. is a tremendous honor, especially among world-class destinations like Mammoth Lakes, Jackson Hole, Aspen, and Stowe,” Proulx said. “These communities set a high bar, and we’re proud that North Conway and the greater Mt. Washington Valley continue to stand out. This achievement reflects the collective effort of our ski areas, lodging partners, shops, restaurants, and community members who work together to deliver a winter experience that keeps skiers coming back year after year.”
Surrounded by six alpine and six cross-country ski areas, North Conway serves as the gateway to more than 300 alpine trails and roughly 280 miles of Nordic terrain throughout New Hamphsire’s Mt. Washington Valley. The region’s ski culture runs deep, with White Mountain resorts that are among the most historic in the country and central to generations of family traditions. From its position as the valley’s hub, North Conway offers easy access to all 12 ski areas, as well as an array of dining, lodging, and year-round activities for both skiers and non-skiers. The combination of terrain, heritage, and village charm has long defined the area, further cementing North Conway’s status as one of the nation’s premier ski destinations.
