A series of images from the NWS highlights what a poor start to winter the Northeast is having compared to the previous few years.

A very slow start to the snow season this year across the Eastern US. Here is a look at the seasonal snowfall totals so far as of 7 am December 22nd, and a comparison with the snowfall totals for the previous 3 years as of the same date.

A couple of big storms in November seemed to set them up nicely, especially as the west was so dry, but with the exception of a few dustings, December has been disappointing.

However, not all hope is lost! Snow is in the forecast the next week or so… not season changing aounts, but enough for some good days skiing.
