Pacific Group Resorts has added another major destination to its portfolio with the acquisition of SilverStar Mountain Resort in British Columbia, a move that strengthens one of North America’s fastest-growing networks of independent ski areas. The addition of SilverStar, one of the 15 largest ski resorts on the continent, expands PGR’s reach and opens new benefits for passholders at its other properties, including Jay Peak in Vermont.
SilverStar brings more than 3,300 acres of skiable terrain, a vibrant mid-mountain village, and a deeply rooted local community to the PGR family. The resort was recently named the No. 3 Ski Resort in Canada in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards and becomes PGR’s second Canadian property, joining Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island.
Jay Peak celebrated the announcement publicly on social media, calling SilverStar “a wildly unique mid-mountain village” and extending “a big welcome” to its new sister resort. In the same message, Jay Peak mentioned the expanded access now available to its 2025-26 passholders: five days at SilverStar plus 20% off lodging, with blackout dates on December 26-31, 2025; January 17-18, 2026; and February 14-16, 2026.
Across the PGR network, 2025-26 season passes with reciprocal benefits will now include the same SilverStar access.
Mark K. Fischer, President and CEO of Pacific Group Resorts, described the acquisition in a press release as a natural extension of the company’s long-term strategy. “SilverStar is an extraordinary resort with a loyal community and a spirit that aligns perfectly with PGR’s values,” Fischer said. “We firmly believe this is one of those rare places where families and friends can build and renew bonds that enrich their lives.”
General Manager Herwig Demschar said the resort’s leadership team is staying in place and expressed appreciation for SilverStar’s prior ownership. “We are deeply thankful to POWDR for their stewardship and investment in this mountain,” he said. “As we look ahead, we’re excited to join Pacific Group Resorts. Our leadership team is staying on, and we look forward to reinforcing what makes SilverStar so special.”
POWDR CEO Justin Sibley acknowledged the resort’s community and character during the transition, saying SilverStar “is a special mountain with a passionate community,” and thanked the Vernon region for its partnership. PGR said the 2025-26 season will continue without operational changes. All programs, services, and passes remain valid, and guests can expect the same terrain, hospitality, and village experience that define SilverStar.
Located less than an hour from Kelowna International Airport, the resort offers 3,304 acres of terrain, a 760-meter vertical drop, and more than 700 centimeters of annual snowfall. In summer, SilverStar operates one of North America’s most established bike parks, rounding out its four-season appeal. With SilverStar now part of the network, PGR’s portfolio includes six resorts across Canada and the U.S., broadening travel options for skiers seeking independent, community-driven mountains.
