While many regional resorts have already stored their groomers for the summer, spring is proving to be a relentless provider at Palisades Tahoe. According to a press release shared with SnowBrains on April 22, 2026, the upper mountain received an additional 11 inches of fresh powder overnight, pushing the total snowfall for April to a staggering 81 inches.

This latest surge brings the cumulative season total to 359 inches. With a forecast predicting cooler temperatures, consistent cloud cover, and scattered showers through the end of the month, the resort is successfully preserving its deep snowpack well beyond the typical winter window. The resort’s annual Cushing Crossing pond skim event has also been pushed back to May 2, weather conditions permitting.

The Last Bastion of Tahoe Skiing

Palisades Tahoe currently stands as the final destination for skiing and riding in the Lake Tahoe basin. The resort is leaning into its reputation as the “Spring Skiing Capital,” a title reinforced by this month’s return to mid-winter conditions.

The resort noted that the momentum from these late-season storms is setting the stage to keep lifts spinning into early to mid-May. While a definitive closing date has not been set, operations are expected to continue as long as snow coverage and weather conditions permit.

High-Value Spring Access

To encourage skiers to take advantage of the extended season, Palisades Tahoe has introduced several late-season pricing tiers designed for maximum value:

  • Spring Ticket Trio: $93 per ticket (fully transferable).

  • 2-Day Lift Pack: $125 per day.

  • Reciprocal Passholder Discount: $79 per day for passholders from other resorts.

The current weather pattern suggests that the classic bluebird corn snow days—a staple of California spring skiing—will likely follow this current stretch of winter-like accumulation. For now, the focus remains on the rare 81-inch April total that continues to climb as the month draws to a close.
