After mother nature dumped over three feet of snow in the last week, Palisades Tahoe announced yesterday it will open for the season on Friday, November 18th.

Let’s kick the season off right! We can’t WAIT to see you back up on the mountain ⛷️🏂

The date is four days earlier than scheduled.

The resort will open from 9 am to 4 pm and will be running Gold Coast Express, with some resort services at Gold Coast Lodge and in The Village. The resort warns that early season conditions exist, and guests will upload and download on the Funitel. Terrain will be expanded as conditions allow.

While it’s awesome news the resort will be opening early, the new date is still over a week away. On its blog, the resort explained, “we have quite a bit of work to do to get this mountain ready! This snowfall, while significant, is very light in density. Right now, our grooming team is up on hill “track packing,” or driving machines over each run with no tiller down, in order to consolidate the snow and build a dense base layer. Track packing is happening all up and down Gold Coast, a little bit in the beginner area at the top of the Aerial Tram, and over toward Resort Chair. Additionally, we still need to make some snow to have a solid base. We have a few days of cold temperatures coming up that should help address this need.”
