Palisades Tahoe, California, closing weekend is set for May 24, wrapping up the 2025-26 ski season on Memorial Day Weekend with spring skiing and the return of the Made in Tahoe Spring Festival.

Palisades Tahoe Closing Weekend: What to Expect on the Mountain

The announcement caps a season that nearly ended six weeks earlier. A brutally warm and dry March prompted the resort to warn that it might close as much as a month ahead of schedule. Then April delivered just under seven feet of new snow on the upper mountain, extending the season to its traditional Memorial Day finish.

How April Snow Saved the 2025-26 Season

Mountain operations crews have been moving snow to preserve late-season access through the final days. The resort is operating daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with firm morning snow softening into spring conditions through the afternoon. The Gold Coast Express and terrain park are expected to remain open through May 24, while the Shirley Lake Express will operate as long as conditions allow, with coverage along the return route thinning.

Palisades Tahoe is one of only two ski resorts still operating in California, alongside Mammoth Mountain, which closes May 31.

The Made in Tahoe Spring Festival runs May 23-24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in The Village at Palisades Tahoe. The free, family-friendly event will feature more than 100 local artisans, nonprofits, food vendors, and performers. Programming includes live music, aerial performances, dance showcases, and a DJ set at Gold Coast Lodge.

Participating breweries include Alibi Ale Works, Truckee Brewing Company, FiftyFifty Brewing Company, and Tahoe National Brewing Company, alongside spirits and wine from Tahoe Blue Vodka and Truckee River Winery.

“We’re stoked to welcome the Made in Tahoe Spring Festival back to Palisades Tahoe for closing weekend. There’s no better way to celebrate another incredible season than by bringing together the local businesses, artists, musicians, and community members that make Tahoe such a special place,” Patrick Lacey, PR Manager at Palisades Tahoe, said.

Festival Proceeds Benefit Tahoe Food Hub

All bar proceeds from the festival benefit Tahoe Food Hub, with more than $100,000 raised to date. The event is held in partnership with Truckee School of Music and Tahoe Food Hub, and is sponsored by the North Tahoe Chamber.
