Park City Mountain has announced a significant shift in its arrival strategy for the 2026/27 winter season, introducing a daily $29 parking fee for its newly completed Canyons Village Parking Structure. The move marks the end of unrestricted free parking within the garage as the resort aims to streamline traffic flow and encourage more sustainable transportation habits.

The official plan, which draws on data from the existing parking programs at Mountain Village, seeks to reduce congestion in the areas surrounding Canyons Village. While the garage will transition to a paid model, the resort confirmed that limited free, first-come, first-served day-skier parking will remain available in the surface lot adjacent to the structure.

Key Features of the 2026/27 Parking Plan

The new structure’s operations will include several incentives designed to reward carpooling and midday arrivals:

  • Daily Rate: A flat fee of $29 for garage access.

  • Midday Flexibility: Parking in the garage will be free for all guests after 12 p.m.

  • Carpool Incentives: Dedicated free parking areas will be available for vehicles with four or more occupants, though these spots are subject to availability.

  • Seasonal Options: A Winter Season Parking Pass will be offered for those seeking frequent garage access.

  • Employee Access: Designated spaces will remain free for resort staff.

A Phased Transformation

This parking overhaul is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade at Canyons Village. Construction is currently underway for the final phase of the parking structure as well as a new 10-person gondola intended to replace the existing Cabriolet Lift. During the Summer 2026 construction window, the garage will be closed to the public, and lift access between the Lower Village and the Canyons Village Forum will be suspended.

To accommodate summer visitors, Park City Mountain is offering free parking in Surface Lots 3 and 4, with shuttles and walking routes connecting guests to the upper village.

Focus on Public Transit

The resort is heavily emphasizing the use of Park City’s fare-free transit systems to mitigate the impact of the new fees. High Valley Transit’s 10X High Line and the 101 Spiro route provide direct access to Canyons Village from the Ecker Hill Park-and-Ride, located off the Jeremy Ranch exit.

By implementing these changes, Park City Mountain aims to simplify the journey from a guest’s car to the slopes. Additional logistics, including payment methods and specific pricing for seasonal passes, are expected to be released in late summer 2026.

  1. As a senior citizen I feel this is discriminatory. I like to go ski by myself for just a couple to four hours in the morning. I am 72 years old and don’t have a lot of friends that ski anymore or old friends are dead. To carpool is unrealistic being a senior citizen. I will now find another place to ski.
