Patagonia Inc. has been a long standing advocate for the environment. They conduct their business in a manor which leads their industry in sustainability. They have accomplished a mission to use 100% recycled down in their equipment and have been using recycled wool, polyester, and nylon for a very long time. They also source organic forms of materials such as hemp, which has a much lower impact on the environment.

“This we know: If we don’t act boldly, severe changes in climate, water and air pollution, extinction of species and erosion of topsoil are certain outcomes.”

-Rose Marcario, President & CEO of Patagonia Inc. and Patagonia Works

Recently, Patagonia joined thousands of other businesses who belong to the Low-Carbon USA partnership. This group is fighting to continue the development of cleaner US and foreign economies alike by upholding the American’s national commitments of low-carbon policies and others made in the Paris Agreement.

Awesome idea

But the team at Patagonia believes there is more that can be done. Since 1985, Patagonia has pledged 1% of all sales to the planet. This has totaled $74 million that has been donated to grass-roots environmental organizations at the local level and it doesn’t stop there.

“The threats facing our planet affect people of every political stripe, of every demographic, in every part of the country. We all stand to benefit from a healthy environment—and our children and grandchildren do, too.”

-Rose Marcario, President & CEO of Patagonia Inc. and Patagonia Works

This upcoming Black Friday, Patagonia will donate 100% of all sales- from local shops and their online website- in an effort to continue their pledge to the planet. The proceeds will benefit the same home-grown environmental groups which have done so much for the local communities with the money Patagonia has already raised. Patagonia strongly believes by starting at the local level we will have the best immediate results in each community and expose major priorities on broader issues.

Epic view.
