Pennsylvania Ski Resorts March into Spring with Multiple Events

As Spring approaches, Pennsylvania ski resorts still welcome visitors to the slopes for a final stretch of skiing and snowboarding. This is the perfect time for snow lovers to hit the slopes, with lighter crowds and a full lineup of seasonal events. Resorts across the state offer fun for all ages from pond skimming competitions and carnivals to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Whether planning a weekend getaway or a Spring Break adventure, thereโ€™s still plenty of time to enjoy skiing and snowboarding.

Eastern Pennsylvania

Tuesday, March 11 and 18, 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Tunes On the Tubes

Locals with zip codes starting in “183” and college students are invited to enjoy a Tuesday night of snow tubing at Camelback Resort. Every Tuesday starting at 3 p.m., snow tubing tickets are available for $39 per person with this exclusive offer. Tickets must be purchased onsite at the snow tubing windows, and a college ID, driverโ€™s license, or local school ID must be presented to redeem the discount and receive a parking pass. Parking is included with the ticket at the snow tubing parking lot 14. Themed music nights will take place each Tuesday to enhance the experience.

Pond Skim

Camelback Mountainโ€™s annual Pond Skim invites skiers and snowboarders to glide across the water while dressed in their best 1980s attire. Guests can compete for prizes in categories such as Best Skim, Best Costume, and Best Splash. The event will take place on March 22, with a rain date scheduled for March 29.

Tacos, Trivia & Troegs

Tacos, Trivia, & Trรถegs return every Tuesday inside Slocum Hollow at Montage Mountain. The event begins at 6 p.m., where teams compete for a $100 Montage Mountain Gift Card. Guests can enjoy tacos, nachos, and Trรถegs beer specials throughout the evening.

Tunes & Tubes

Snow tubers can slide, glide, and spin to a different musical theme night every Thursday at Blue Mountain’s Snow Tubing Park. The event includes two hours of unlimited snow tubing with colorful lights synchronized to music rocking the park.ย

Cardboard Box Derby

Blue Mountain’s Cardboard Box Derby returns. This free family-friendly event takes place in the Snow Tubing Park. Participants can build their sleds using only cardboard, tape, glue, string, and paper, competing for prizes inย Fastest, Most Creative, and Biggest Failย categories. Check-in runs from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Adventure Center, with the race starting at 2 p.m. on the Snow Tubing Hill.

Saturday, March 8, 8:30 a.m.

Bear Trax Snowshoe and Skinning Race

Bear Creek will host its first-ever Bear Trax Snowshoe and Skinning Race, a chip-timed 5K course consisting of two laps. Participants can register for the snowshoe race with rental equipment for $45, the snowshoe race only for $30, or the skinning race for $30. Snowshoes and poles will be available for rent for those without their own gear. Race check-in and bib pickup will begin at 7 a.m. in the Lower Lodge, with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. and an awards ceremony immediately following in the base area. Categories for both snowshoeing and skinning include U18 (male and female), 18-39 (male and female), and 40 and older (male and female).

Cardboard Box Race

Bear Creek’s annual Cardboard Box Race will return to the tubing hill, challenging participants to design and build their sleds using only cardboard, duct tape, paint, and zip ties. Competitors race down the track in an elimination format and are free to enter.

Pond Skimming

Bear Creek’s Pond Skim challenge invites participants to test their skills by gliding across icy waters in front of a lively crowd. Those who successfully clear the pond will be entered to win an unlimited season pass for the 2025-2026 season. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Guest Services Lobby, with the event kicking off at noon by the skimming pond. Participation is free with the purchase of a lift ticket, and spectators are encouraged to attendโ€”just be sure to wear boots. Adding to the excitement, Trouble City All-Stars will perform in the Base Area from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Golden Girls Murder Mystery Dinner

Thank you for being a friend. Especially a Golden Girl friend. Guests can step into an interactive murder mystery featuring Sophia, Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy as they host a party filled with intrigue. Attendees will help solve a mystery while enjoying dinner. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $80 per person.

Sunday, April 20, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Easter Brunch

The Grille at Bear Creek will host a special Easter Brunch in the Lodge on Sunday, April 20. Reservations are required. Brunch is $60 for adults, $15 for children ages 6-12, and free admission for kids 5 and under. A $100 non-refundable deposit will be required for parties of eight or more.

2025 Scout Weekend

Shawnee Mountainโ€™s annual Scout Weekend offers discounted lift tickets, rental equipment, and lunch for scouts, their parents, and siblings. Commemorative event patches will also be available. Event tickets are limited, and there are no same-day sales. Limited lodging is also available at PEEC.

Locals Night

Beginning at 3:00 p.m., anyone with a zip code beginning in โ€˜183โ€™ can purchase a discounted night lift ticket for $25. A valid ID is required at the window and no online sales are available. Evening rentals are $37. This offer does not include lessons or tubing. Hours are subject to change; guests are encouraged to check the snow report for current conditions.

Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16

Military and First Responders Weekend

Shawnee Mountain honors military personnel and first responders with special discounts. Active-duty military members and their immediate families receive free lift tickets and ski or snowboard rentals with a valid Military ID. Retired military and Reserve members receive 50% off lift tickets and rentals. First responders, including firefighters, EMTs, police, and troopers, receive one-third off lift tickets. No advance registration is required, and ID is required for ticket redemption.

Big Boulder’s Annual Beach Party & Pond Skim

Big Boulderโ€™s Annual Beach Party & Pond Skim features a full day of excitement on the slopes, with competitions, music, and fireworks. The fun begins at 10 a.m. with a Cornhole Tournament, followed by a DJ set at noon and a Rail Jam at 1 p.m., with awards at 2 p.m. Guests can enjoy sโ€™mores at 4 p.m. before the evening events, including the Starlight Skim at 6 p.m., a bubbly Mocktail Mixology session, and a beanie giveaway at 7:30 p.m. The night concludes with a fireworks finale at 7:45 p.m. Registration deadlines are 9:30 a.m. for Cornhole, 12:30 p.m. for Rail Jam, and 5:30 p.m. for the Pond Skim at the Nature Valley tent.

Roundtop Mountain celebrates its 60th anniversary with Spring Fling, a day of music, games, and prizes. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., DJ Caraby will provide live music, while guests enjoy all-day activities such as cornhole and volleyball. Giveaways and raffle prizes are included with the purchase of a lift ticket.

Wine Dinner

Blue Knob’s March Wine Dinner features a festive “Mardi Gras” theme. Guests can enjoy an evening of fine wines expertly paired with each course of a specially curated menu. The dinner will includeย Shrimp ร‰touffรฉe with braised shrimp and white rice, a Crawfish Boil with winter vegetables and crawfish, Honey Pecan Catfish with cornbread, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo accompanied by a sweet potato salad, and Fried Beignets served with coffee. Blue Knob will celebrate Saint Patrickโ€™s Day weekend with its annual “Spring Fling,” featuring an exciting lineup of events. The Costume Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. at the top of the lifts, where participants can showcase their creativity for a chance to win a full season pass for the 2025-2026 season. The popular Pond Skim will follow at 2 p.m., with registration taking place in the Summit Lodge from 11 a.m. to noon.

March Madness Pond Skim

Whitetail’s March Madness Pond Skim is a great opportunity for skiers and snowboarders to test their skills across icy waters. Registration takes place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the Slopeside Patio, with skimming beginning at 11 a.m. Participation is free with a donation to the Epic Promise Foundation, and spots are limited to the first 40 registrants. Prizes will be awarded forย Master of The Skim, Best Costume, and Best Wipeout. Spectators are welcome but must remain outside fenced boundaries.

Kids’ Pond Skim & Carnival

Hidden Valley invites children ages 6-17 to show off their silliest costumes while attempting to skim across a kid-sized pond on skis or a snowboard at the Kids’ Pond Skim. Pre-registered participants will receive a Hidden Valley Swag Bag and a participation gift, though the event will not be judged. Registration opens at 11 a.m. inside the Lodge near the Clocktower Restaurant. Helmets are required, and children must be able to swim. After the event, families can enjoy a carnival in the Southridge Room until 5 p.m., featuring games, treats, and live entertainment from a balloon artist and magician.

Celebrate the awesome ski and snowboard season with Seven Springs’ favorite springtime event, the Pond Skim. Skiers and snowboarders will brave the refreshingly chilly pond skim waters as they try to impress our judges with their Best Skim, Best Costume and Best Splash. Grab a cold one at the Foggy Goggle or from the Rockstar Bar on the Foggy Goggle Deck and check out all of the pond skim action happening below the Polar Bear Express Chairlift from the Foggy Deck, Emo’s Pit, and Foggy Bowl.
