It’s dumping snow at Mammoth Mountain, CA, right now and showing no sign of stopping. 10-16” of snow was expected overnight, with a couple of additional feet of snow in the forecast on Saturday and Sunday.

Mammoth currently has more terrain open than any other resort in the country and is hoping to open Chair 22 for the first time this season today. Eagle Lodge and Canyon Lodge will be open today.

“It’s snowing! The forecast is calling for heavy snowfall throughout the day. Wind and weather will affect upper-mountain lift operations, keep an eye on the Winter Report page for real time operating info. Eagle Lodge will be open tomorrow through Sunday, Eagle Express (15), Chair 8 and Chair 22 are expected to operate.”

Thanks to one of the snowiest Novembers on record Mammoth opened early for the season on November 5th. The resort, the third most visited in the country, opened with four lifts, five runs, and an 11-16″ base. Broadway Express (1), Panorama Gondola to McCoy, Unbound Express (6), and Face Lift Express (3) offered access to Broadway, Saddle Bowl, Silver Tip, Rusty’s, and Lower Main Park with a small terrain park set up.

Mammoth has seen 60″ of snow already this season and has a 56″ base.

Winter is off to a great start in the eastern Sierra. Long may it continue…
