[PHOTOS] Arapahoe Basin Kicks Off Colorado Ski Season

Arapahoe Basin, CO, became the fourth resort in North America, and the first in Colorado, to open when they began turning the Black Mountain Express chair at 8:30 am yesterday.

A-Basin has been making snow since October 9th and announced its opening on Friday morning. A snowstorm rolled through Colorado on Sunday, meaning snow fell through most of the day.

I learned a long time ago, “Never underestimate people’s desire to ski.” Opening Day was a hoot. Skiers and riders loved High Noon. The tail gating started before dawn. Mug Club sold out. It snowed much of the day. Mostly, it was great to get the gang back here skiing and having fun.

The snowmakers and cat drivers did a tremendous job, and the forecast for the coming week looks outstanding.
