Cerro Bayo ski resort in Argentina reported its first snow of the 2025 season on Friday, April 25, marking an early sign of winterโs arrival in the southern Andes. The resort shared images of its slopes blanketed in fresh snow, with accumulations estimated up to eight inches (20 centimeters).
The snowfall at Cerro Bayo comes as ski areas across the Southern Hemisphere begin to see the first signs of the upcoming season. Resorts in Chile reported snow earlier in the month, and New Zealand two weeks ago.

Cerro Bayoโs management celebrated the occasion on social media, encouraging guests to secure lift passes, ski packages, and equipment rentals before opening day.
Last year, Argentine ski areas benefited from significant early-season snow, leading to early openings and strong visitor numbers. However, weather experts note that the Pacific Oceanโs transition to neutral conditions this year, following the end of La Niรฑa, could bring more variable patterns for the months ahead.
As the season approaches, updates on resort openings and snow conditions are expected. SnowBrains CEO and Founder Miles Clark will again spend the summer in Argentina, bringing you reports regularly throughout the southern hemisphere season.
