Falls Creek, Australia, announced today, Saturday, June 7, that the resort will open for skiing and boarding tomorrow, June 8. A season-opening snowstorm delivered 17 centimeters (7 inches) of snow overnight and thereโs up to 65 centimeters (26 inches) in the forecast over the next three days. The village is a ski-in, ski-out wonderland, with plenty of June deals for guests to ski and save on accommodation and lessons this month.
Falls Creek will be running Halleyโs Comet chairlift and Mouse Trap carpet from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, giving guests access to laps on Wombatโs Ramble, Australiaโs longest green run. โOur mountain operations team will be working through the night to ensure a safe and smooth opening for skiers and boarders,โ said Richard Phillips, Vice President and General Manager of Falls Creek Ski Lifts. โThis is just the beginning. With our new Techno Alpin snow guns laying a solid foundation, and more snow in the forecast, weโre preparing to open additional terrain as soon as possible.โ
โHuge thank you to all the team, especially our snowmaking team for working around the clock in temperatures as low as -5.7ยฐC. With more snow on the way and a passionate community behind us, weโre primed for an unforgettable season.โ
