Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, shared photos on Monday of the first dusting of snow of the 2025-26 winter, marking the official end of summer and beginning the countdown to its projected November 27 opening.
Last season, the resort opened on November 28 and closed on April 6, for 130 days of skiing. Taos averages 300″ of snow every year.

Taos Ski Valley celebrates its 70th anniversary this winter, honoring a legacy of big mountain skiing and New Mexican spirit while introducing enhancements across its slopes and base area. In a press release, resort CEO John Kelly explained the dual focus on terrain and culture: “We are making it easier than ever to experience that magic, with better flight access than ever before, exciting new additions in the base area, and thoughtful improvements to the mountain that elevate the guest experience in every way”.
Travelers will note increased flight options, including new Contour Airlines service connecting directly to Denver International Airport five days per week and continued JSX routes from Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles (Burbank), and San Diego. Complimentary airport transfers for guests staying at The Blake further streamline arrival. Seasonal infrastructure upgrades include a new triple chair replacing Lift 7, regrading of Maxie’s run, and RFID ticket gates deployed at several lifts for faster access.
The Blake remains the heart of the Taos village, offering private guides for larger suites, wellness package benefits, and personalized holiday services. Families will find expanded amenities such as the new Taos Kids store and upgraded Red E Charging stations for electric vehicles. Locker capacity has increased with 85 private and six family-size indoor units adjacent to the ice rink.

The 2025-26 season brings exclusive pass perks, notably heli-skiing drops at Silverton Mountain for qualifying passholders, discounts on dining, lessons, and gear, plus a complimentary Ikon Base Pass for Kachina Plus holders. New ski school offerings include the Shredders Xtreme program for youth and an expanded Women’s Ski Week, which now spans three sessions throughout the season. Early season visitors can honor the resort’s founding with $70 lift tickets through December 17, representing significant savings.
Beyond the slopes, guests can participate in a wide variety of events: demo days, military appreciation week, holiday festivities—including an in-room tree service—and the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks. Taos Ski Valley continues its commitment to sustainability, maintaining CarbonNeutral certification and pursuing Net Zero emissions by 2030.
