Snowboarding icon Travis Rice was in Crested Butte last week, scouting out potential zones for the YETI Natural Selection DUELs set to take place in early February. The Natural Selection Tour is the world’s top snowboarding competition that combines slopestyle tricks with big mountain freeriding. The Crested Butte region will be home to two of the six 2024 DUELs. This first stage of the Natural Selection Tour features two riders competing for a shot to move on to the next stage in Revelstoke, British Columbia. Jamie Anderson and Emma Crosby will compete head-to-head at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and Red Gerard and Austen Sweetin will compete on Eleven Experience’s terrain on Scarp Ridge in Irwin, CO.

Rice spent the day Thursday meeting with CBMR leadership, touring the base area, and skiing around our famed Extremes.

“Our operations team will be working closely with the NST operations team to select and finalize the competition venue in the days leading up to the DUEL. While the DUEL venue will not be open to the public, we are excited to partner with the Town of Mt. Crested Butte and the Town Center Community Association to invite the entire community to celebrate the DUELs coming to Crested Butte with a free concert on the snow by Red Lady Express! Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears will take the stage at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 for the CBMR Natural Selection Concert.” – Crested Butte Mountain Resort
