[PHOTOS] Where the Elite Snowsport Athletes Are Training Right Now

We have taken a look around social media as to where the stars of the FIS World Cup circuit are training right now. Some athletes have opted for the southern hemisphere, while others are exploring the European glaciers.

Fonna, Norway

The Norwegians stayed at home and were spotted training on the Fonna glacier. The glacier is always popular with Freestyle athletes, from ski cross to park and pipe athletes. The German ski cross men were spotted as well, Italians and other European nationalities.

Zermatt, Switzerland

The Swiss Alpine team stayed on home ground and have been spotted in Zermatt training on the glacier. Both the male as well as female alpine stars are training at the Matterhorn Ski Paradise, including but not limited to Wendy Holdener, Corrine Suter, Jasmina Suter, Melanie Meillard and Marco Odermatt.

Also spotted in Zermatt was their arch-rival Austria. Nina Ortlieb, Katharina Truppe, Katharina Liensberger, Katharina Huber and many others were training in neighboring Switzerland before the women’s alpine team will head to the southern hemisphere.

The Italian speed team was also on the same glacier, after all the ski area is connected with Cervinia in Italy. Marta Bassino, Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone were also training at the Matterhorn.

Swiss

Saas Fee, Switzerland

Just around the corner from Zermatt in car free Saas Fee, Slovakian Slalom skier Petra Vhlova was sighted as were Slovenian and Dutch Slalom skiers as well as some of the Austrian Alpine men.

Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

The American Alpine team has been spotted in Ushuaia, Argentina. Ryan Cochran Siegle, Jared Goldberg, River Radamus Bryce Bennett amongst others were exploring the neighbors to the south. Conditions in Argentina are looking good for alpine training. The Italian national team also recently arrived at Tierra del Fuego.

Remarkables/Coronet Peak and Mt. Hutt, New Zealand

Alice Robinson stayed home in New Zealand for her summer training. The skier has shared pictures from Mt Hutt as well as Coronet Peak, which have both seen a lot of snow fall recently.

Perisher, Australia

Spotted in Australia were international mogul skiers training on the FIS course from Austria, the. Netherlands, Germany and Japan as well as of course Australian moguls legends like Jakara Anthony and Matt Graham. Also sighted were members of the U.S. snowboard team ripping it up in Perisher’s Front Valley terrain park.
