It’s been a rough season at Portillo ski resort, Chile.

Portillo has world class terrain, but they didn’t have the snow this year and were forced to completely shut down the ski resort 3 weeks earlier than scheduled on September 10th.

“Thank you to all of our Portillo friends for your support during the 2017 season, which ended Sunday. We look forward to seeing you in 2018 with lots of snow!” – Portillo on September 12th, 2017

It must have been pretty bad since they weren’t able to stay open for the big independence day weekend in Chile on September 18th.

Meanwhile, southern Chile and Argentina have had record snow totals this season.

We’re hoping that Portillo gets buried in snow all season long next year.

Portillo opened on June 24th, 2017 after big early snowfalls in Central Chile.  After that, not much more snow fell this season at Portillo.

Portillo is located at the same latitude as Tijuana, Mexico:  32.5º from the equator.
