POV of Skiing the Grand Teton, WY

Skiing the Grand Teton in Wyoming is the holy grail of Lower 48 ski mountaineering.  If you’ve skied the Grand, you’re a true ski mountaineer.  On May 2nd, 2014, Joel Bettner and Josh Smith did just that.  Their video shines some light on a feat that most of us will only dream of.

“My friend Josh Smith and I climbed and skied The Grand Teton on May 2, 2014. We were hoping to ski the Otter Body route, but conditions did not allow. We skied the Ford-Stettner route instead. The snow was very difficult (punchy crust and roller balls on top, softer and thick underneath) but we made the most of it and got to ski a true American icon. It was a great day and we’re both thankful to have had the opportunity to do it all safe and sound.” – Joel Bettner
