Jeremy Benson of Powder Magazine has written an poignant article about how heavy our hearts have become from the current lack of snow in Tahoe.  In case you didn’t know, it hasn’t snowed yet in Tahoe this year.  It’s real real bad.  This quote from Jeremy’s Powder magazine article sums it up nicely:

“Soul-crushing would be a good way to describe our lack of snow, the kind of drought that makes you question the sacrifices you’ve made to be a ski-bum and live where you live. Social media doesn’t help, the bitter taste of FOMO in my mouth after every powder pic on Instagram or Facebook from Montana, Jackson, Southwest Colorado, even Vermont. Sorry if I didn’t “like” your photo, but I was too busy wallowing in my own self pity.” – Jeremy Benson/Powder Magazine

Here is a quote from NOAA Reno, NV this morning:

IN THIS MORNING`S EDITION OF "WILL IT EVER SNOW AGAIN?" - ALL THE
GLOBAL MODELS ARE SHOWING A 180KT+ TRANS-PACIFIC JET DEVELOPING
BETWEEN 30-40N AND MOVING EASTWARD AFTER JAN 17. THIS MAY SET UP A
PATTERN CHANGE OVER THE WEST COAST FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK, BUT
CONFIDENCE IS LOW THAT FAR OUT. - NOAA Reno, NV

  1. Still have to blame Wirth for the tree cutting in front of dave’s deli, Kt deck in late spring 2011, haven’t had a solid winter since….

Cushing cut all those trees on back of broken arrow/silverado in summer ’90, worst drought year of ’90s was ’90-91. Snow didn’t come until miracle march of ’92, let’s hope it gets better soon, possible better outlook coming, not going to say, don’t wanna jinx it.
Precip warm today, but at least it’s precip, change happening.

  2. How much is airfare to Salt Lake City? Seattle? Vancouver? Calgary?

I feel bad for Tahoe people that have little means to branch out – that sucks.

Then again, it’s usually phenomenal for you guys while I have to ski somewhere in the northeast soon after they got a solid inch of rain.
