Squaw Valley got 2″ of new snow last night along with some very cold temperatures. Before today, Squaw had been in the 50s everyday and super slushy. The cold temps froze things up solidly last night and made the off-piste treacherous today. The high temperature at the top was 24ºF today and winds blew between 30-40mph up top all day.
There were some fun pockets of wind blown snow here and there, but for the most part, you wanted to stick to the groomers.
Overall, today was a mellow one. We just skied groomers off KT, Headwall, Siberia, Shirley, and Granite it was fun.
The past two weeks have been slush skiing paradise all over the mountain. We need to get back to that. The West Face and Chute 75 off KT-22 have been skiing great and they’ll return to that form by Saturday as temperatures increase. Granite Chief and Siberia have been fun the past two weeks as well.
The heat will return in the coming days as temperatures bounce back to the 60s in Squaw by Monday.
Squaw =
- 37-134″ snowpack

- All lifts except Silverado in still in operation
