Arapahoe Basin & Loveland Ski Area received nearly 2-feet of natural snow over the past two days. Along with that, both resorts were able to make snow last night into this morning. Loveland has announced that they are shooting for a Mid-Late October Opening, but when will Arapahoe Basin open?
SnowBrains reached out to Arapahoe Basin to ask if they had any information pertaining to when they may open for the season.
“After 12″ of new snow today, when is Arapahoe Basin hoping to open this season?” stated SnowBrains in an email to Arapahoe Basin.
Adrienne, a team member at Arapahoe Basin, was quick to reply.
“Arapahoe Basin will open as soon as we have a skiable base (generally around 18″) on the High Noon run. This natural snow definitely gets us closer to opening day, but snowfall doesn’t exactly equate to base. Our earliest opening date on the books was October 9 (2009). This is an incredible start, and we’re ready for winter!” stated Adrienne in her email response.
The forecast looks warm for the next few days, but snowmaking temperatures are expected to return this weekend into early next week.
