The heatwave in the US West brought three consecutive days of record-high temperatures to South Lake Tahoe this week and is forecast to continue into the holiday weekend.

Three consecutive days of ~90ºF at Lake Tahoe is unusual, but South Lake Tahoe set a record of 90ºF on Sunday, 91ºF on Monday, and then tied the previous mark of 89ºF on Tuesday. Reno also tied record highs of 103ºF on Monday and 102ºF on Tuesday.

Highs into the weekend should be in the mid- to upper 80s at Lake Tahoe and the mid- to upper-90s in the Reno area.

South Lake Tahoe has broken four heat records this month, with the first two on June 17-18 and then twice more on Sunday and Monday, then tying on Tuesday.
