Report from January 10, 2025

Yesterday was our last day at the backcountry BC hut.

We skied incredible powder all 7 days and ruminated in modest accommodations.

We were trashed yesterday coming out of the hut.

We rolled directly into the luxurious Sutton Place at the base of the gondola at Revelstoke Mountain Resort (thanks for hosting us:) and immediately splashed into the hot tub.

We were exhausted and spent the night lying on the ccouchwatching the college football playoffs in style.

Today, we hopped into the gondola early with very little energy.

19 backcountry days in a row left me barely hanging on.

We hit some of the legendary trtreeuns off the Stoke chair then reveled in the continent’s longest inbounds runs – 5,620 vertical feet.

These top-to-bottom runs are insanely fun, and I can’t help but smile as I hit the wide-open, empty groomers down past the Stoke chair.

It’s hard to describe what it’s like to ski for a vertical mile,e but I can tell you that it takes a while.

So damn fun.

After skiing 20,000 vertical feet, I was bushed and called it a day early to save some energy for the coming days of fun here.

It appears that heavy snow is heading our way over the next few days.

Thanks, BC!
