AI is increasingly used in businesses around the world, and the ski industry is no different. AI can analyze and summarize data exponentially faster than humans, and has valuable applications in departments like ticketing, lift operations, snowmaking, and managing websites. It will also provide a list of lodging options for skiing, including descriptions, and offer a link to the websites of those lodging locations upon request. The AI program is best at answering less opinion-based questions and, when asked for après suggestions, will effectively dissect Colorado’s varied après-ski scene, offering a detailed list of local places to visit for great food, drinks, music, and relaxation.
Although Colorado Concierge is geared at assisting and helping people with tourism questions, it also answers some other ski-related questions. The question of who is the best skier in the world is another debatable topic, and the AI program answered with a diplomatic, “The title of ‘best skier in the world’ can be subjective and varies depending on the discipline within skiing, such as alpine, freestyle, or cross-country.” However, it did give three answers to the questions, and the top three skiers in the world according to Colorado Concierge are Mikaela Shiffrin, Marcel Hirscher, and Lindsey Vonn. No mention of Ingemar Stenmark, make of that what you will.
