The summer heat may be peaking, but Saddleback Mountain is already counting down to winter. The Maine ski area marked the milestone of fewer than 100 days until its projected start of snowmaking late last week, reminding skiers and riders that opening day is not far off.

In a post on its Instagram account, Saddleback encouraged guests to lock in ticket pack deals before they expired at midnight, touting them as the best value of the season with no blackout dates. The mountain’s advance ticket packs allow skiers to choose any day during the winter, offering flexibility at discounted rates.

Saddleback’s projected snowmaking start typically comes in late October, weather permitting, setting the stage for a December opening. The mountain’s countdown mirrors the preparations happening at ski resorts across the country, where operators are finalizing offseason projects and gearing up for the first cold snap that will kick off snowmaking season.

Soon, winter will be upon us—everywhere.
