The Blitzen Chairlift at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania has been a destination where families and friends have come together to ski, ride, and make lifelong memories since 1975. The lift is being replaced with a new Blitzen Chairlift for the 2026-27 ski season, and Seven Springs is giving people the opportunity to own an authentic piece of that history. The ski resort is auctioning vintage triple chairs from the Blitzen Chairlift, giving guests, employees, collectors, and mountain enthusiasts the chance to take home a unique artifact from one of the resort’s iconic lifts.

From September 25 to 27, the Blitzen chairs will be available through an online charity auction. In partnership with EpicPromise, proceeds will benefit the local volunteer fire departments, supporting the brave individuals who serve and protect Seven Springs Mountain Resort and its surrounding communities. Whether you spent countless days lapping the glades or simply want a unique piece of mountain memorabilia, this is your chance to take home a part of Seven Springs history.

The 1975 Blitzen Lift is being replaced with a new four-person fixed-grip Doppelmayr chairlift. The previous lift had reached the end of its service life, and sourcing parts has become increasingly difficult, making this upgrade an important investment in long-term reliability. The new four-person lift will increase uphill capacity by approximately 33% — or about 600 additional passengers per hour compared to the previous triple chair.

Upgrading Blitzen is all about making the guest experience smoother and faster. The new four-person fixed-grip lift will allow skiers and riders to get on the mountain quicker from the main base area, with an unload location similar to Polar Bear for easy access to both the Front and North Face. This change is designed to reduce congestion and improve flow — similar to how many pass holders use the North Lot for faster terrain access.

The Blitzen Chair Online Auction will open at 12:00 p.m. EST on Friday, September 25, 2026, and close at 5:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Pre-registration for the auction is strongly encouraged, and people can save time when bidding begins, receive important auction updates, and be ready to bid immediately when the auction opens.

The chairs will be auctioned individually, with photos of each available chair posted on the auction website. Winning bidders will receive the specific chair associated with the lot they win. The minimum starting bid for each chair is $250. These chairs are retired ski lift equipment and are being sold as-is.

Each chair is approximately 97 inches tall and 67.75 inches wide and weighs approximately 200 pounds. It includes the chair neck/bail assembly, does not include the original grip attachment, may contain scratches, fading, weathering, rust, or other signs of use, and may slightly vary in condition.

Winning bidders must pick up their chair at Seven Springs Mountain Resort at the Avalanche Parking Lot on either Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or Sunday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Seven Springs will not ship or deliver chairs and will not hold any chairs beyond the designated pickup dates. The winning bidders are responsible for transportation of the chairs, which will require appropriate vehicles and assistance for loading. It is strongly recommended to bring additional help when picking up the chair. By placing a bid, a person acknowledges their ability to pick up and transport the chair during the designated pickup window.

Auction proceeds will benefit the EpicPromise Foundation and three local volunteer fire departments that serve the Seven Springs community: the Seven Springs Volunteer Fire Department, the New Centerville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department.

The Blitzen Chairlift served generations of skiers and riders at Seven Springs Mountain Resort and helped create countless memories on the mountain. Each chair is a genuine retired ski lift chair and a one-of-a-kind piece of Seven Springs history. As the resort continues to invest in future guest experiences, these retired chairs now have the opportunity to begin a second life as unique home décor, outdoor features, collectibles, or conversation pieces. This auction allows guests and community members to preserve a piece of Seven Springs heritage while supporting important local causes.
