Squaw Valley had announced that they’d open Shirley Lake today, but to everyone’s shock and awe, they opened Siberia as well. Â Let us qualify that. Â They opened the hike to Siberia. Â The chair never moved. Â This system made it pretty darned fun, though. Â The hike was refreshing and the snow was perfect. Â Recrystallized powder rewarded all the hikers of Siberia today.
The Kangroo Kicker was kickin’. Â There was enough lip to do what ever you wanted and the landing was just soft enough to make it fun.
Shirley Lake was completely ungroomed. Â The skiing was good and powdery in Shirley but hidden rocks were prevalent. Â After a few runs, it freaked us out.
Squaw Creek and Red Dog are skiing the same as they have all week: Â scratchy, icy, and fast.
Overall, it was a great day and tomorrow should be fun as well. Â It was neat to ski some pow and do some jumps today.
