Sierra-at-Tahoe, California, is making a notable change for the 2026-27 winter season, announcing that it will implement a parking reservation system on weekends and holiday periods as part of its newly released season pass rollout.
The ski area said the new program is aimed at improving the guest experience while also addressing concerns from the surrounding community. According to Sierra-at-Tahoe, the reservation system will give skiers and riders more confidence that a parking spot will be waiting for them before they even leave home, helping reduce the uncertainty that can come with busy weekend and holiday visits.
Under the new setup, parking reservations will be free for Sierra-at-Tahoe passholders and for vehicles carrying four or more people. Parking reservations for non-passholders will be $25 per day, though certain programs, such as Ski and Ride School, may qualify for discounted reservations. More information on reservations will be released in Fall 2026. The resort said the move came after feedback from both guests and locals, intending to reduce traffic impacts and lower carbon emissions by encouraging carpooling and more predictable arrival patterns.

The announcement came alongside the launch of 2026-27 Sierra-at-Tahoe season passes, which are now on sale starting at $339. Guests who purchase early can lock in the lowest price by buying before April 30, and current Sierra passholders can save up to $50 on renewal if they do so by that same date.
Sierra is also once again offering one of spring’s more appealing pass perks: buy now, ride now. New 2026-27 passes will be valid immediately this spring, giving passholders access to the mountain through closing day, which is still to be determined.
As more ski areas look for ways to better manage access on their busiest days, Sierra-at-Tahoe’s new parking reservation system reflects a growing industry trend. For Sierra, the change appears designed to balance convenience for guests with quality of life concerns in the surrounding region, while rewarding passholders and carpoolers in the process.
