After a one year hiatus, Blandford Ski Area is ready to re-open in December! Under new ownership, the small ski area in Massachusetts has made the investments necessary to open to the public. Blandford was the oldest club-own ski area in the country prior to being sold due to financial problems.

Blandford Properties LLC planned to open for the season when they purchased the ski area in September 2017. However, unsafe operating conditions lead them to make the tough decisions to remain closed for the 2017-2018 season.

It was a very difficult decision not to open but there are a lot of children who come here, I’m not going to put my kids on the lift and I wouldn’t put the public on it.” said Ron Cozer, GM of Blandford

Maintenance crews were hard at work over the past year. The two main chairlifts, along with the beginner lift are ready to spin. Crews also worked on the snowmaking system, replacing and cleaning pipes to ensure maximum efficiency. A new grooming machine was purchased to improve on mountain conditions. Additionally, a fresh coat of paint was added to the lodges that will now be serving alcohol after recently receiving their ABC licensee.

Blandford Ski Area plans to open mid-December. They will be offering corporate ski race nights, night skiing open to the public, a racing program, along with much more. A Christmas camp will be offered to kids interested in learning more about ski racing and they may add a homeschooling program for those serious about racing. The ski area will be opening a new Terrain-Based learning program with terrain features, such as hills to help new skiers and riders control their speed when they feel like they are going to fast.
