Updated Friday, May 8
If you are not done with the ski season yet, there are still options in Europe to keep the stoke alive. About two handfuls of ski resorts in Europe remain open to the public through May, while others shift to limited operations focused on race and club training.
At the same time, Europe’s first summer-only ski areas, such as Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Centre, Noway, begin to open. Resorts like Stryn Sommerski, Norway, and Passo Stelvio/Stilfserjoch, Italy, are not included here, as they don’t start operations until late May; SnowBrains has covered those in a separate roundup of summer-only destinations.
Outside of Scandinavia — where high latitudes near the Arctic Circle help preserve snowpack — most remaining open resorts in the Alps rely on glacier skiing to extend their seasons into late spring.
