This time is no different as the most expensive real estate sale in Utah state history just sold last week for a blistering $39.6 million to Rockstar Energy Drink Creator Russell Weiner. The new owner, who, according to Forbes Magazine, is estimated at $4.1 billion net worth, is no stranger to luxury homes.
His new ski-in/ski-out spec property is situated in the prestigious White Pine Canyon development at The Colony, Park City. According to its website, The Colony is characterized as: “… is a planned, residential, private, gated community. Known for setting the new standard for on-mountain living, this “ski-ranch” development offers private retreats unlike any other.”
Located in the middle of Park City Mountain with nearby access to the resort (via Quicksilver Gondola), Mr. Weiner’s new 17,500 sq. ft. estate sprawls over 5 acres and includes 6 bedrooms, each with its own terrace and outdoor fire pit! As with any ‘ski shack‘ of this proportion, there is the obligatory ski room with vintage skis that adore the ceiling as well as a host of other “jaw-dropping” amenities you might come to expect as standard in this ultra-luxurious property.
Premier amenities include:
- “Wellness-intelligence system” – filters water and air and naturally adjusts lighting.
- Master library with goatskin-parchment wall paneling.
- Bowling alley, indoor sports court, golf simulation platform.
- “Wellness Wing” – indoor-outdoor lap pool, massage room with wall of Himalayan salts, hot tub, steam room, and sauna.
When considered in total, this estate carries amenities and activities that truly rival that of an inclusive resort! However, with all the glitz, glamour, comfort, and convenience, I have just one remaining question… I wonder if he still skis?

Environmentalists and anti-development NIMBY’s have put so much red tape and cost on construction & development in mountain towns only the uber rich can afford to build homes there. Ski bums and van life enthusiasts should look forward to this trend getting much worse in the coming decades.
