Sale Agreement Allows Summit Connection

Purchase of Mountaineers Property Expands & Connects Snoqualmie Ski Area

Property bridges Summit West and Summit Central, provides for Pacific Crest Trail relocation.

Boyne Resorts has purchased the parcel of land that lies between Summit West and Summit Central, formerly owned by The Mountaineers Club of Seattle, WA. The property was the site of the Snoqualmie Lodge, which hosted guests, members, and Mountaineers club events at the lodge and ski hill until the lodge burned down in 2006.

“Some of my earliest memories of Snoqualmie Pass were skiing and staying at the Snoqualmie Mountaineers Lodge as a kid,” said Dan Brewster, General Manager for the Summit at Snoqualmie. “I’m thrilled we’ve found a way for skiers to continue to use this special property.  In the near future, we look forward to dramatically improving the connection between Summit Central and Summit West as well as working together with The Mountaineers and others on a new route for the Pacific Crest Trail that will provide a better experience for all recreational users – summer and winter.”

We’ve been working closely with both The Mountaineers and the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail organization to create an agreement that is beneficial for each organization and protects potential future routes of the Pacific Crest Trail in the area.

The purchase will expand The Summit’s area by 77 acres, most of which is skiable terrain featuring a large cleared area as well as forested slopes. This ski area expansion increases total skiable acreage at The Summit at Snoqualmie to well over 2000 acres. Some limited trail work on the property itself may start as early as this summer but most work is anticipated to happen in 2017.  In the meantime we will be working with the USFS in designing those trails. Eventually the area and trails will be lit for night skiing as well.

Mountaineers Expansion

Acquiring the Mountaineers property significantly increases the ease of connectivity between Summit West and Summit Central, particularly for lower intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Currently, skiers transitioning from Summit West to Central need to be able to ski advanced slopes. Therefore, an important aspect for the ski area is the ability to move more guests with varying ability levels back and forth with increased ease. Plus, the property also features some steeper terrain that is sure to be a hit with intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders. When all of the trail work is completed on the newly acquired land it realizes a long-time vision of literally connecting Summit West and Central together.

A portion of the newly purchased land will be open for snowsports enthusiasts to enjoy for the 2016-2017 winter season and will be accessible via the Wildside and Triple 60 chairlifts.
