Hot on the heels of last week’s snow on 14,115-foot Pikes Peak in Colorado, the flakes have started to fall slightly closer to Denver and the Front Range.

Webcam images from 11,307-foot Berthoud Pass (US-40) show snow on the ground in the parking lot at the summit of the pass and the base of the old ski area.

While it’s not uncommon to see snow mid-summer on Colorado’s 14,000′ peaks, this one at a much lower elevation hits us especially hard knowing that meteorological fall starts in only 9-days on September 1.

Astronomical fall starts in only 30-days on September 22!

Winter is coming…
