Snowboarder Doesn’t Put Bar Down and Falls Off Chairlift at Bogus Basin, ID

A snowboarder sustained non-life-threatening injuries after falling from the Coach chairlift at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, Idaho, on Friday evening. The incident occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. during night skiing hours.

Bogus Basin spokesperson Susan Saad confirmed that surveillance footage showed the rider successfully boarding the lift. However, the snowboarder reported that the safety bar had not been lowered during the ascent.

The Bogus Basin Patrol Team provided immediate assistance. An ambulance transported the injured snowboarder to a local hospital for treatment.

Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, located 16 miles north of Boise, Idaho, is a year-round outdoor destination. In winter, the 2,600-acre ski resort boasts 88 named runs, 10 lifts, four high-speed quads, and a 1,800-foot vertical drop. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy day and night skiing, with 175 acres illuminated for evening runs. Beyond downhill sports, Bogus Basin provides Nordic skiing trails, snowshoeing, and a tubing hill. During summer, the mountain is a hub for hiking, biking, and disc golf, featuring over 20 miles of trails and scenic chairlift rides. As a non-profit organization, Bogus Basin reinvests its earnings into improving facilities and expanding recreational opportunities, ensuring its continued service to the growing Boise community.
