Forecast Summary:

A through will push through Colorado and bring 8-24″ of snow to the mountains through Thursday morning.

Snow will begin to fill in from the north and west Monday night and continue on and off through Wednesday. 

Snow will taper off during the afternoon Thursday as the trough moves off to the east.

Places to see the most snowfall are Steamboat, Winter Park, Keystone, Aspen, Vail, Wolf Creek, and Telluride.

Short-Term Forecast:

Monday-Thursday:

A through will push through Colorado and bring 8-24″ of snow to the mountains through Thursday morning.

Snow will begin to fill in Monday night into Tuesday morning as a stout cold front pushes in from the north and west.

During this time is when snowfall rates will be the highest for most mountain locations.

Behind the cold front, snow showers will keep going under moist, unstable, northwest flow.

Snow will then continue on and off through Wednesday before tapering off during the day Thursday. 

This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for the area.

Long-Term Forecast:

Friday-Sunday:

Conditions will briefly dry out Friday before another system moves through Saturday into Sunday.

Snowfall totals are not certain at this time but should see another round of healthy snow that will make for soft turns.

Conditions then dry out heading into next week.

Global ensembles are indicating below-average precipitation and below-average temperature across Colorado through the extended.
