A one-two punch of mid-week and weekend storms will blanket the central and southern Andes with fresh snow, topping out near 20” at Corralco and 16” at Portillo by Monday. The first wave, late Wednesday into Thursday, puts down a supportive, slightly denser base, while a colder surge from Friday night to Sunday follows, accompanied by lighter, drier powder and significantly lower snow levels, setting up excellent turns across Chile and Argentina.

Wednesday night–Thursday: a modest, moisture-rich front noses into the region from the Pacific. Snow arrives first over the Lake District and central Chilean resorts on Wednesday evening, spreading to the high Andes by dawn. Totals run only 2”–4” for the central cordillera (Valle Nevado, La Parva, El Colorado, Portillo) and 6”–10” for the northern Patagonian hills (Chapelco, Corralco, Cerro Catedral). Snow-to-liquid ratios hover in the 9–13:1 range, so expect a right-side-up, cream-cheese layer—ideal for covering early-season hazards. Snow levels sit near 6,000 feet in the central Andes and 3,000 feet in Patagonia, safely below all base areas. Strong westerly ridgeline gusts near 60 mph around Chapelco could affect upper lifts early Thursday.

Friday night–Saturday: the main cold front slams ashore with deeper moisture, stronger orographics, and a sharp temperature drop. This is the jackpot window: Corralco should see 8”–12” overnight, with Portillo, Valle Nevado, Las Leñas, and Chapelco picking up 6”–10”. SLRs jump into the 14–18:1 band, delivering light, blower powder atop the denser mid-week base. Snow levels crash to 2,100 feet at Corralco and near valley floors (100–600 feet) in northern Patagonia, while holding between 4,200–5,300 feet for the high-elevation central resorts—still all-snow from top to bottom.

Sunday–Monday: trailing instability keeps light snow showers flying before high pressure builds. Expect an additional trace to 3” of fluffy leftovers Sunday, mainly south of Nevados de Chillán, with winds easing and skies breaking by Monday afternoon. Temperatures remain cold (teens °F on the summits), preserving quality and allowing early-week visitors to enjoy smooth corduroy and soft off-piste turns.
