A prolonged series of storms will bring multiple rounds of fresh snow through early next week, with periods of heavier accumulations favoring the Idahoโ€“Wyoming border region. Overall, expect a mix of cold overnight lows, gradually rising snow levels by late weekend, and occasional gusty windsโ€”especially Thursday and Sundayโ€”as each surge passes.

The Arctic chill continues into Thursday morning. Very cold overnight temperatures persist in sheltered valleys, while moderate breezes will keep wind chills bitter in exposed areas. Skies fill with clouds Thursday as the next system arrives from the west, bringing light to moderate snowfall by afternoon and continuing into Friday. Snowfall will be heavier in the Idaho and Wyoming mountains, with drier but still cold conditions lingering farther north.

Friday into Saturday features a broad area of snow tapering off, though mountain accumulations persist. A weak ridge overhead briefly reduces precipitation coverage, but periodic flurries remain possible across higher elevations of western Montana and Idaho. Several additional inches of accumulation may continue where terrain and flow align, while most lower valleys observe only spotty light snow.

By Sunday, a renewed disturbance spreads fresh snow over much of the region, possibly accompanied by milder air. Snow levels may rise enough to produce rain or a wintry mix in a few lower Idaho valleys, though the mountains remain all snow. Occasional gusty winds could create localized blowing snow in exposed areas. Looking further ahead, medium- and long-range guidance indicates continued unsettled weather through mid-next week, with another potential wave bringing more snowfall to favored mountain areas.
